Pet Portraits

"Susan, THANK YOU so much for the painting of my parent's dogs. I gave it to them for Christmas and they absolutely loved it! It turned out really great - the colors, their expressions – it is fantastic. Thanks again, Susan."
Best wishes,

Photo Tips for Pet Portraits from photos

taking a photo
Selecting the right picture(s) of your pet is important to the success of your original art pet portrait.
• Use a good quality camera.  Set a digital camera to the highest resolution you can.
• It is important to send a picture that is in focus, without harsh shadows or bluriness.
• Include a closeup of the pet's face - one shows both eyes looking at the camera is best.

• Don't worry about red-eye, the artist can fix that.
• Take photos in natural light, but not direct sunlight.  An overcast day is best.
• Be conscious of the angle your photo is taken at.  Avoid pictures taken from above; crouch down if you have to and get a shot at eye level to the animal.
• Use a flash, even when outside to balance shadows and brighten your pet's face.
