This commission was to paint a copy of a favorite painting entitled, "Isle of the Dead" by Arnold Bocklin.  Originally done in 1880, by Swiss Symbolist artist Arnold Bocklin (1827-1901), this is his best known painting, of which he painted several versions.  Prints of this enigmatic work were very popular in central Europe in the early 20th century.

This original painting is 18"x24". 

The Carcassone Castle in Southern France. "I was so blessed to be able to visit this site of the Cathar's stronghold, a place of such courage." Featured in the book, 'The Labrynth' by Kate Moss, this is where the Roman Catholic Church seiged and eventually destroyed the Cathar culture.

This is the Cambria, CA coastline.  "It was a beautiful day, and I felt so free to stand on the windy cliff, feeling the ocean. This an oil painting of a Michigan forest.  "I love the way the sun is coming through the leaves. Within the leafy array, I put a reiki healing symbol meaning 'Sacred Community'. It is meant to further enliven the energy given from the painting to the viewer. detail at right.

This is the famous peak in Machu Piccu, Peru.  "It is hard to explain how enormous this site is.  I was way up on the agricultural terraces to paint. Although I painted quite a bit at this spot, this particular painting was done from one of my photographs, once I returned home.  This scene is part of my on-going adventure to paint sacred sites around the world." said the artist.

The beautiful spacious plains of Kansas. "I love the wind out there, and the  feeling of endless expansion. From horizon to horizon, an ocean of grass surrounds you, flat to the edge of the sky".
